Message From the Dean

The School of Medicine is the oldest of the Schools and has always been an integral part of the College since the foundation of the University and has the largest number of Departments. Currently, the School has seventeen (17) Departments namely: Anaesthesiology, Chemical Pathology, Child Health, Community Health, Haematology, Medical Microbiology, Medicine (Internal), Mental Health, Obtertrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Pathology (Morbid Anatomy), Radiology, Surgery,  Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Ear, Nose &Throat and Family Medicine.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A.Matriculation Requirements
Admission to pre-degree courses in Medicine at the University of Benin will be by Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) entrance examination, which will be open to:

Degree Awarded

At the successful completion of the train­ing programme in Medicine, a student is awarded MBBS degree (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) of the University of Benin. The degree is awarded without honours

Work Load and Course Attendance

All courses as listed are core courses and must be passed to qualify for the degree. Every student is therefore normally required to attend all tuition programmes and must register

Examinations

The School of Medicine sets assessment, end of course, end of semester and comprehensive examinations.(i) Assessment tests are held in every course at least once during each
